The U11 years are an important stage in a young player’s development. This is where strong skating habits, puck confidence and hockey instincts begin to form the foundation for everything that comes next.
Vigier Hockey’s Spring U11 Development Program is designed for male and female players who want to improve their individual skills in a positive, energetic and challenging environment.
Our focus is on giving players plenty of repetitions and puck touches while helping them become more comfortable skating, handling the puck and making plays at increasing speed.
Training Focus
– Skating technique, balance and edge control
– Acceleration, agility and change of direction
– Puck handling and control
– Passing and receiving while moving
– Shooting technique and scoring fundamentals
– Using both sides of the body effectively
– Puck protection and creating space
– Developing on-ice awareness
– Reading and reacting to simple game situations
– Creativity, confidence and decision-making
– Competing for loose pucks and learning strong battle habits
At U11, we want players to develop the confidence to try things with the puck, make decisions and learn through repetition.
Training will combine focused skill development with competitive drills and small-area games that encourage players to think, react and compete while having fun.
The objective is not simply to make players faster or more skilled individually. We want them to begin understanding how skating, puck skills, awareness and decision-making all work together within the game.
By building these habits early, players can develop a stronger foundation as they move into the faster and more competitive U13 and U15 levels.
